"SAILOR" BOB ADAMSON

Living Reality Living Reality: My Extraordinary Summer With "Sailor" Bob Adamson
by James Braha
Hermetician Press
Trade paperback,
350 pages, 8 pages color photos
ISBN 0935895108
Price: $33.50

As I delve into this marvelous assortment of "Duets of Oneness" what knocks "me" over is the simplicty of the message (and the "messengers") ... there is a palpable sweetness and what some would call a Heart-Resonance that seeps into the reader from the space behind the words and the spaces on the page ...

DO NOT miss this one ... for me this is the best book a seeker could read ... IF the interest is in seeing through all the myths and expectations about the "Bliss of Enlightment" or some other such nonsense.

This is a book for the Ripe and Ready ... If he or she is TRULY interested in and "willling to go through the death of the apparent individuality!"

This is a text in the tradition of the great dialogues of Adi Shankara, Jnaneshwar, Nisargadatta and Ramana ... and as such is much MORE than "A story of liberation, friendship, humor, and love, as Sailor Bob takes spiritual aspirants beyond the need for help, just as Nisargadatta Maharaj did for him thirty years ago..." It's that, AND more. ~ Charlie Hayes

'Sailor' Bob Adamson lives with his wife Barbara in Deepdene, Melbourne, and gives talks at weekly gatherings in their home. For further details, >Click Here.

Awakening to Your Life's Purpose

By Eckhart Tolle
Published by the Penguin Group 2005
ISBN: 0 7181 4857 6
Softcover 310 pages
$27.00

Eckhart Tolle's first full length book in eight years will be a cornerstone for personal spirituality and Self-realizaton for years to come. Taking off from the introspective work he began with The Power of Now, the number one bestseller that has sold millions of copies worldwide, Tolle provides the spiritual framework for people to move beyond themselves in order to make this world a better, more spiritually evolved place to live.

Shattering modern ideas of ego and entitlement, self and society, Tolle lifts the veil of fear that has hung over humanity during this new millennium, and shines an illuminating light that leads to happiness and health that every reader can follow.

A New Earth A New Earth --
Awakening to Your Life's Purpose

By Eckhart Tolle
Published by the Penguin Group 2005
ISBN-13: 978-0-718-14810-2
Hardcover 313 Pages
$38.95

Building on the astonishing success of The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle presents readers with an honest look at the current state of humanity: He implores us to see and accept that this state, which is based on an erroneous identification with the egoic mind, is one of dangerous insanity.

Tolle tells us there is good news, however. There is an alternative to this potentially dire situation. Humanity now, perhaps more than in any previous time, has an opportunity to create a new, saner, more loving world. This will involve a radical inner leap from the current egoic consciousness to an entirely new one.

In illuminating the nature of this shift in consciousness, Tolle describes in detail how our current ego-based state of consciousness operates. Then gently, and in very practical terms, he leads us into this new consciousness. We will come to experience who we truly are—which is something infinitely greater than anything we currently think we are—and learn to live and breathe freely.

A New Earth is everything that you might expect from a realized being, such as Eckhart Tolle. It is beautiful in appearance, energetically pure essence and brilliantly written with pearls of wisdom on every page.

For your interest, we have a page with a short but illuminating passage from A New Earth entitled: WWho Is The Experiencer?

The Power of Now The Power of Now --
A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

Hodder Headline Australia Pty Ltd, 2004
Softcover: 235 Pages,
ISBN: 0 7336 1912 6
Price: $20.00

Translated into 35 languages -- more than 2 million copies sold. A word of mouth phenomenon since its first publication, The Power of Now is one of those rare books with the power to create an experience in readers, one that can radically change their lives for the better.

To make the journey into The Power of Now we will need to leave our analytical mind and its false created self, the ego, behind. From the very first page of this extraordinary book, we move rapidly into a significantly higher altitude where we breathe a lighter air. We become connected to the indestructible essence of our Being, "the eternal, ever present One Life beyond the myriad forms of life that are subject to birth and death."

Although the journey is challenging, Eckhart Tolle uses simple language and an easy question and answer format to guide us.

Stillness Speaks Stillness Speaks.
Hodder Headline Australia Pty Ltd, 2003
Softcover, 127 Pages,
ISBN: 0 7336 1735 2
$22.00

This second book by Eckhart provides a "going deeper" into the teaching already so eloquently and clearly expressed in his first book The Power of Now. Although the teaching takes on new depth, added dimensions and specific focuses, it is even easier to grasp since Eckhart writes in short, clear entries ranging from one line to one page.

Each entry is concise and complete in itself, even though they have been astutely organized into 10 topic clusters ranging from "Stillness & Silence" and "Beyond the Thinking Mind" to "Relationships" and " Suffering & the End of Suffering". Whether read individually, as a topic cluster, or in their totality, these entries take on a Tranformative power that can awaken the reader to Self-Realization, to their true nature.

While spiritually profound, Stillness Speaks is also intensely practical. Eckhart tells us how to be with another in a relationship, which can contain and weather all things, how to "sit" with a dying person, where to find wisdom, how to free ourselves of guilt, and how to control the runaway-thinking mind.

Underneath the words, between them, in the energy of presence conveyed by them, we find the power of Stillness. This vibrantly alive state found only in the here and Now, is one with our Being and the field out of which all "arises".

Eckhart Tolle, renowned for the simple and powerful truths in his books and talks, led an extraordinary two-day retreat at Findhorn, the famous spiritual community in Scotland. The entire event was filmed and edited into an extraordinary four-hour video experience.

Quietly and humorously, he gives us a profound message of hope and simple tools for transformation — the clear guidance we need to deeply realize the magic of every moment, and to deepen our awareness of the sacredness of life and of being. His words have the power to profoundly affect our lives, and reveal something new each time we listen. And in this special book that accompanies the video, Eckhart has added his own photographs and captions, interspersed with quotes from some of his peak moments from the video, so that this book itself becomes a powerful transmission of Eckhart’s teachings.

The eBOOK edition -- 165 pages in pdf format. (easy to read and print out)
Buy and Download Now for only US$10.95 (about, AU$14.00)

On page 25 of End Your Story Begin Your Life, Jim writes:

“Awakened people are not defined by their personal history, or any other story about reality. If they are defined by anything at all, it is the timeless beauty, vibrancy, and creative energy of this moment now. They honor the past, they keep an eye on the future, but they are always right here, fully appreciating and flowing with whatever is happening now.”

In this book you will discover the revolutionary practice that allows you to step back into awareness and gain an immediate sense of release from stress, anxiety, and tension. You will also learn to…

  • Experience a deep sense of peace and well-being that shines on its own, that doesn’t depend on circumstances or conditions of any kind.

  • Find your identity in being itself, in the beauty, love, and creative energy that is your real nature.

  • Tap into your true purpose and use the power of thought and intention to accomplish it.

  • Honor your desires, feelings, and emotions without being controlled by them, and without creating any story or drama around them.

  • Learn to welcome problems, challenges, and setbacks as opportunities for growth and learning.

  • Live in increasing gratitude for the gifts, blessings, and lessons that come your way.

End Your Story Begin Your Life is an inspiring, life-transforming guide to the depth of inner freedom also known as awakening, enlightenment, or self-realization. Through his words and his presence on every page, Jim Dreaver teaches the revolutionary three-step practice that helps you fully awaken to the peace, love, and creative joy within you:

Step 1: Welcome Your Experience. Whenever you are facing conflict, upset, or suffering, learn to welcome it. It is showing you where you are not yet free.

Step 2: Notice The Story. Behind every reactive emotion, whether it is stress, self-doubt, guilt, anger, envy, jealousy, loneliness, anxiety, depression, or fear there is always a story, belief, or thought. Remind yourself: "I am not my story... I am the pure awareness that is present right now ..."

Step 3: Be Present. Now. Relax and breathe into the feeling of being present. Observe any residual feelings or emotions, but don't create a new story around them. Notice how "you", as an aware being, the witness, are still very much here. Feel the shift in your energy, the new sense of ease and well-being.

Feel how you are more truly present, more centered and grounded. You see everything anew, and can deal with what's in front of you from a place of confidence and strength. The power of thought, of your goals and dreams, is now available to you to create whatever you are passionate about. Living itself becomes richer and more meaningful — and a lot more fun!

There is a fourth step needed to become completely free… read page 14 to discover what that is, and then the rest of the book to be guided toward full awakening …

Here, Gangaji shows you thought-by-thought how to stop the endless activity of your mind, and experience the brilliance and radiance of who you really are in every present moment.

How to unearth the roots of suffering: learn to stop replaying your life’s dramatic stories over and over, and much more

ADYASHANTI

The me is without inherent self nature, in the same way that when you read a book, the characters don’t exist outside of your imagination.

So that’s basically what it means to really wake up: you’re waking up from the character. You don’t have to destroy the character called me to wake up from it.

Wake up from your character, and then you see your self nature in all characters. Not just one, but all of them. You don’t lose the character; you just gain the whole novel of life. ~ Adyashanti

ISBN 0-9717036-0-4
$30.95

Revised for its second printing, The Impact of Awakening is a collection of short excerpts from satsangs and talks. Adyashanti guides the reader through a progression, chapter by chapter, from the initial impulse to be free, to the culmination of this impulse in liberation. Also included are discussions on relationship, the student-teacher relationship, and a call to question any and all belief systems that might distort our ability to perceive what is true.

"At the moment of Enlightenment everything falls away — everything. Suddenly the ground beneath you is gone, and you are alone. You are alone because you have realized that there is no other; there is only THAT, and YOU ARE THAT." -- Adyashanti.

Open Gate Publishing 2003.
Softcover, 141 Pages,
ISBN 0-9717036-1-2
$30.95

Adyashanti's heartful, lively poetry is woven together with short teachings and "one-liners" culled from journals, dharma talks and dialogues with students.

With all the unpredictability of a dancing flame, Adyashanti celebrates life from the vantage of the laughing Buddha and gently invites the mystery to wake up to itself in the heart of each reader.

Throughout the book, Adyashanti illuminates the pathless path to sacred annihilation -- the surrender into your own divine self. Like the mystical love poetry of Rumi and Hafiz, the flame dances wildly, reverently, innocently, and playfully in this new collection. This book is a wonderful gift for anyone who loves getting drunk on the truth or who still imagines they are thirsty and need a long, sweet sip from the beloved's overflowing cup.

BYRON KATIE

A Thousand Names for Joy A Thousand Names for Joy: Living in Harmony with the Way Things Are
by Byron Katie
Random House 2007
Hardback: 281 pages, with dustjacket.
ISBN: 0307339238
Price: $25.95

In her first two books, Byron Katie showed how suffering can be ended by questioning the stressful thoughts that create it, through a process of self-inquiry she calls The Work. Now, in A Thousand Names for Joy, she encourages us to discover the freedom that lives on the other side of inquiry. Stephen Mitchell—the renowned translator of the Tao Te Ching—selected provocative excerpts from that ancient text as a stimulus for Katie to talk about the most essential issues that face us all: life and death, good and evil, love, work, and fulfillment. The result is a book that allows the timeless insights of the Tao Te Ching to resonate anew for us today, while offering a vivid and illuminating glimpse into the life of someone who for twenty years—ever since she “woke up to reality” one morning in 1986—has been living what Lao-tzu wrote more than 2,500 years ago.

Katie’s profound, lighthearted wisdom is not theoretical; it is absolutely authentic. That is what makes this book so compelling. It’s a portrait of a woman who is imperturbably joyous, whether she is dancing with her infant granddaughter or finds that her house has been emptied out by burglars, whether she stands before a man about to kill her or embarks on the adventure of walking to the kitchen, whether she learns that she is going blind, flunks a “How Good a Lover Are You?” test, or is diagnosed with cancer. With her stories of total ease in all circumstances, Katie does more than describe the awakened mind; she lets you see it, feel it, in action.

I Need Your Love - Is That True? I Need Your Love -- Is That True?
How to find all the love, approval and appreciation you ever wanted.
by Byron Katie
Random House 2005
Paperback 152mm x 233mm 256 Pages
ISBN: 1844130266
Price: $34.95

This book delves into the universal quest in everyone’s life for love, approval and appreciation. Explore what happens in your mind when you believe you need love, appreciation and approval. Byron Katie questions everything we have been taught to think and do to gain love and approval and shows how to make the transition to an effective, non-manipulative way of connecting with others.

We also have this book on CD read by Byron Katie.

Loving What Is Loving What Is - Four Questions That Can Change Your Life
by Byron Katie with Stephen Mitchell
Random House 2002
Paperback 152mm x 232mm 258 Pages
ISBN: 0-7126-2930-0
Price: $34.95

Would you like to reach new and profound understandings about your life? Replace pain with laughter and joy? Exchange depression for a lightness of being? Find freedom? If your answer is `Yes', Loving What Is explains how using just four questions can change your life for ever. When applied to different emotional, mental or physical difficulties, these four questions can awaken peaceful, even ecstatic feelings, and radically alter your perspective.

Byron Katie has known great pain and suffering in her life. In highly unusual circumstances she awakened one morning to a sudden and dramatic shift in awareness, which brought her an inner clarity. Since then she has been travelling the world demonstrating the value and simplicity of these four questions, and how they `work'. In Loving What Is she shows you how to understand and befriend your mind, rather than attempt to change it. The result is that you can be who you really are, in your own skin, comfortable with reality and able to love yourself.

"Our partners, alive, dead, or divorced, are always our greatest teachers. There's no mistake about the person you're with; he or she is the perfect teacher for you, whether or not the relationship works out, and once you enter inquiry, you come to see that clearly. There's never a mistake in the universe. So if your partner is angry, good. If there are things about him that you consider flaws, good, because these flaws are your own, you're projecting them, and you can write them down, inquire, and set yourself free. People go to India to find a guru, but you don't have to: You're living with one. Your partner will give you everything you need for your own freedom." - Byron Katie

Then you undo the next, and the next. And then you find that you are actually looking forward to the next belief. Everything you want them to give you, turn it around, and give it to yourself. Life is good. I have myself now. And then everything I want, I give you too. And I feel such joy. I come to see that that is the gift I give myself. But until I gave it to myself, I couldn't give it to you. And to give it to you is to give it to my very own self." - Byron Katie

Whenever you think that your needs are not being met, you're telling the story of a future. You're supposed to have exactly as much money as you have right now. This is not a theory: this is reality. How much money do you have? That's it, you're supposed to have exactly that amount. If you don't believe it, look at your checkbook. How do you know when you're supposed to have more? When you do. NIRMALA - GINA LAKE

Nothing Personal Nothing Personal -- seeing beyond the illusion of a separate self.
by Nirmala
Endless Satsang Press 2001
Softcover 219 Pages.
Was $24.95 -- Now only $12.40

The beauty of this collection of Nirmala's talks and dialogues is that it covers much of the spectrum of spiritual awakening, from the initial experience of one's true nature to the practical challenges, which always call for a deeper seeing and deeper understanding of how spirit manifests as all of life and beyond. Within these talks and dialogues you, the reader, will find Nirmala to be a living invitation to look within.

What is appealing about Nirmala is his humility and lack of pretence, which welcomes whatever arises within the field of experience. In the midst of this welcoming is always an invitation to inquire deeply within, to the core of who and what you are. Again and again, Nirmala points the questions back to the questioner and beyond to the very source of existence itself -- to the faceless awareness that holds both the question and the questioner in a timeless embrace.

About the Author: Nirmala (originally, Daniel Erway) is the founder and director of the Endless Satsang Foundation. Radical Happiness -- A Guide to Awakening.
by Gina Lake
iUniverse, Inc. 2005
Softcover 121 Pages.
$21.95

Radical Happiness This book is for spiritual seekers who are ready to be finders and anyone asking the question, Who am I really? It tells the story of the spiritual journey from separation to Oneness that each of us is destined to make. It is our destiny to awaken–to wake up from the illusion of being a separate individual and rediscover the truth: There is only one Being, and that Being is you!

Radical Happiness provides the keys to experiencing the happiness that is ever-present and not dependent on circumstances. This happiness doesn't come from getting what we want but from wanting what already is. It comes from realizing that who we think we are is not who we really are. This is a radical perspective! This true, or radical, happiness is what we all are seeking, but it can't be found in things, experiences, or even states of mind or states of consciousnesss. However, it is ever available in the moment when our attention is given to that instead of to the mind and what it thinks it needs and wants to be happy;

“Not surprisingly, the radiant joy of the Self can be felt in these pages. Gina's book, like the radical happiness it reveals, comes straight from the Heart.”
– Dennis L. Trunk, Editor of Third Millennium Gateway

About the Author: Gina Lake has a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology and over twenty years experience supporting people in their spiritual growth. She and her husband, Nirmala, offer satsang gatherings and retreats.

DENNIS WAITE

Back to the Truth Back to the Truth:
5000 Years of Advaita

Publisher: O Books, 2007,
Paperback, 620 pages
ISBN-10: 1905047614
ISBN-13: 978-1905047611
Price: $65.95

A book on advaita that combines its theory, its practical implication, and its history can be very heavy reading. But this book does all that and yet remains eminently readable.

This is definitely one of the most complete and exhaustive books on advaita ever, and is the first book that I have seen that not only deals with advaita but also expands upon the various different types and styles of teachings including contemporary ones, analyses and compares them and helps the seeker in selecting the one that matches his temperament the most.

A rare book, of great practical value to any sincere spiritual seeker, and a must for anyone interested in advaita.
~ Dr. Nitin Trasi, author of The Science of Enlightenment

How To Meet Yourself How To Meet Yourself:
... and find true happiness

Publisher: O Books, 2007
Softcover, 277 pages.
ISBN-13: 978 1 84694 041 5
ISBN-10: 1 84694 041 9
Price: $39.50

"You think that your life is in a mess and wonder what it all means. You are looking for an explanation and a sense of purpose. You just want to be happy."

This is not a self-help book – who you really are does not need any help. The problem is that you have completely mistaken the nature of yourself and the world. You are confusing what is real with what is unreal.

Once this confusion has been untangled, both meaning and purpose will be revealed. This book will disentangle your mind! It will explain to you what you are not so that you can understand who you really are and, ultimately, come to the realization that you are already happy now!

This book analyzes our perennial search for happiness and explains why we will never find it in modern lifestyles, pleasure or fame. It enlists the help of polls by sociologists, findings of evolutionary psychologists, historians, philosophers and others, as well as drawing on personal experience and examples, to show that we are not separate from the world and the essence of our nature is already happiness.

"This is a book for real people who are seeking the ever elusive state of true happiness. But, rather than start at some fabulous sounding paradise, Dennis starts out where we are - in the middle. Because the middle of living day by day is where our desire for happiness arises. Ultimately, the book shows us the way back to the beginning - to our own true and natural state of uncaused joy.

His anecdotes ring a bell in the heart and the plentiful scholarly quotations and lucid explanations thereof vibrate the mind into a new seeing. As we dive deeply into the book, fascinated by the clarity of his writing, we find that Dennis reveals - and then dismantles - all manner of beliefs that keep the happiness we seek at arms length. With the help of many great philosophers, Dennis weaves subtle yet powerful pointers into the book. These gradually and surely reveal the actual Source of happiness - The Real You.

I love this book! Highly recommended."

Our real nature is Liberation, but we imagine that we are bound and make strenuous efforts to become free, although all the while we are free. This is understood only when we reach that state. NB. This book is accompanied by a CD which runs for about 38 minutes. It contains a naration of the Introduction by Gay Hendricks and then a selection of readings from the book with special linking and background music.

So much misery is the result of imposed limitations we place on ourselves. It's as if we place a barrier in front of the door to our home, then require ourselves to jump over it every day to get in to a place that's already ours. All unhappiness is due to forgetting we put the barrier there ourselves and can remove it at any time.

Your happiness is always with you. Your bliss is always there. It cannot be anywhere else. BLiss and the Self are One and always with you. One day, perhaps this moment now, you realize that what you are searching for is what is searching. There is always nowhere to go. You are already home. You are always already home. -- Ramana Maharshi

Paperback: 1.2 x 5.0 x 8.5 inches 550 pages
Price $43.95

I Am That is Nisargadatta Maharaj's most well known book and perhaps the best selling Advaita (nonduality) book in the West. Now recognised as one of the greatest sages of India, Maharaj's sole concern was with human suffering and the ending of suffering. It was his mission to guide the individual to an understanding of his true nature and the timelessness of being. He taught that mind must recognize and penetrate its own state of being, "Not being this or that, here or there, then or now, but just timeless being."

About the Author: Nisargadatta Maharaj was a highly respected sage who lived the modest life of a Bombay shopkeeper and family man. Because of the depth of his spiritual realization, people from all over the world visited Maharaj to benefit from his wisdom and guidance. His teachings, known for their exceptional clarity and universal appeal, communicate the essence of advaita, or nonduality.

Set against a background of rare and remarkable photographs, these previously unpublished teachings (recorded between 1977 and 1979) represent the heart of Maharaj's message, which is becoming far better known now than when he conveyed it at his humble residence in a noisy, commercial area of Bombay.

The Wisdom-Teachings of Nisargadatta Maharaj helps us realize the peace and freedom of our true nature. By understanding the false concepts by which we define ourselves, we can awaken from them and live in our true Self.

Translated accounts of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj talks. Jean Dunn, a close follower of Maharaj, edited this and two other volumes that make up a trilogy of Maharaj's talks: Seeds of Consciousness and Consciousness and the Absolute: The Final Talks of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj.

Jean, who was with Maharaj during his last years, observes that during this time Maharaj did not entertain any questions pertaining to worldly life and its improvement, and exclusively taught the highest truth. "Even one sentence of his was like an Upanishad."

He was very blunt and sharp in his answers and did not cater to anyone's ego -- in fact, his stated purpose was to destroy this "Pseudo-entity ." To be in his presence was to feel the vibrant truth, impossible to describe. "He was amazing to watch ... One could only gaze at him in total love and awe."

Jean Dunn died in March 1996; she made an invaluable contribution in compiling the teachings of Nisargadatta Maharaj for posterity.

Maharaj's admonition to "be" and to know that one "is" -- in the sense of timeless being -- emerges from these dialogues and will touch the lives of many for a long time to come. The conversations recorded by Jean Dunn, an ardent follower of Maharaj, continue to provide insights for modern man in his spiritual journeys, leading him out of mind-made suffering into the joy of awakened consciousness.

ISBN: 81-901059-2-2

This mind-expanding collection from one of the greatest sages of our time represents the pinnacle of Ramesh S. Balsekar’s teachings.

It features excerpts from the guru’s handwritten comments and words of wisdom, all placed in a stylish and empathetic layout—with plenty of room in the margins for making notes and comments, as Balsekar himself liked to do in his own favorite books.

Appropriately inspirational images of nature and monuments appear throughout, and each selection is meant to be savored slowly and meditated over. Emanating from the very source, Balsekar’s wisdom is for all generations.

This book is dedicated to the great T.G. Gray, also known as Wei Wu Wei. Ramesh Balsekar is one of those rare sages from India who has adapted his terminology to the Western language and understanding.

Recognized as one of the foremost contemporary sages, married and father of three, and a banker who retired from the top of his profession, Ramesh could be considered a householder Guru. Ramesh shares openly, poignantly, and with stunning humility, how a sage lives his life.

Backed by the total conviction of the final understanding of a true Master, and at the same time presented from the perspective of "life as we know it", this treasure of Advaita is unrivalled in its unique conceptual expression of the highest Truth, delivered with fundamental wisdom, simplicity, and clarity -- and with Ramesh's widely-loved gaiety and humor.

A rare gift to anyone and everyone seeking insight into how life happens, The Ultimate Understanding is perhaps the pinnacle of Ramesh's writing. It heralds the total message he has to convey. What else remains can only be the final understanding, the final Truth, the silence of Unicity.

Consciousness Speaks: Conversations with Ramesh S. Balsekar
Edited by Wayne Liquorman
Published by Advaita Press 1992
Paperback 392 Pages..
ISBN: 0-929448-14-6
Price: $44.95

Consciousness Speaks Ramesh Balsekar does not fit the stereotype of a traditional Indian teacher. As he is a retired bank president, his educational background complements his deep spiritual understanding, which serves as a bridge between Eastern and Western philosophical teachings.

Ramesh spent several years with Nisargadatta Maharaj, during which time he often served as a translator. This book is an excellent representation of his teachings and includes highlights from talks that he gave in the United States between 1988 and 1990.

"Identification with the body is so total that it gives one a sense of separate identity. Now, the separate identity is merely a concept, a concept based on the individual body appearing solid." -- Ramesh Balsekar

Pete Sumner feels this book played a significant part in the awakening that happened in his case and recommends it to all serious students of spirituality.

Balsekar is perhaps the greatest living spiritual leader and his teachings on Advaita or non-duality, bring wisdom to one of the most important and widely debated spiritual subjects today.

Ramesh Balsekar is widely regarded as the world’s greatest living sage. He has said that his primary inspiration for exploring the spiritual life came from Ramana Maharshi; he takes up Ramana’s message and enlightens questioners by drawing upon his deep knowledge of Advaita. Advaita is the teaching of non-duality, which holds that everything is one, that we are all an intrinsic part of the universe, not split from it. Balsekar’s words are powerful, accessible, witty and always to the point.

This anthology of the writings of Ramesh Balsekar comprises thematic extracts from all of his own written works to date and the selection is approved by the sage himself, as well as his leading disciple, Wayne Liquorman. It will serve to stimulate its readers to study more of his books and edited talks – and perhaps indeed to meet him in Mumbai.

Peace and Harmony in Daily Living
by Ramesh S. Balsekar
Edited by Susan Waterman
Published by
Softcover, 290 pages
ISBN:
Price: $34.95

Peace and Harmony in Daily Living This book is about facing life moment to moment while being anchored in tranquility. Ramesh points out that each one of us, at some time or the other, has a taste of the experience of peace and harmony. Here he shows how this state of constant repose can occur in the midst of our ordinary, hectic, daily living.

Ramesh points out that what usually disrupts the peace and harmony in life is a thought about something we think we - or someone else - should or shouldn't have done. Hence, a massive load of guilt and shame for oneself, or hatred and malice for the other, is perpetuated. Without a lot of arduous effort - work, discipline, sacrifice, sadhana - without outside assistance, but simply by investigating one's own experience, it is possible to get relief from this bondage.

What mystics have said for ages, is here viewed from the perspective of modern living: that actions are 'happenings' and not something done by someone. This understanding is what actually contributes to discovering the state of equanimity and peace which we most ardently seek. Nicely bound and printed in India. A beautifully presented volume.

With astonishing clarity, he lifts us out of the morass that is our conditioned thinking and points us to the Truth that is masked by our ego.

Through 24 dialogues between the Jnani (Enlightened Master) and a disciple, we are allowed vivid insights into the nature of God, alienation, Love, joy and BEING. This is a book for the serious spiritual seeker. It points to the most basic of all facts:

We are not what we think we are ... we are much, much more.

The Flowers and the Fertilizer.

Published by Guadalupe Press, 1998.
Softcover: 288 pages.

This is Starcke's most challenging and in-depth book. By prying open the inner meaning of our traditional Western beliefs, and showing us how we can reinterpret the scriptures, he points to their deeper meaning and truth -- a truth that can awaken us to the liberating awareness of reality -- that it is all God.

With compelling clarity, Starcke presents his readers with a practical "how to" guide that will establish us in the 21st century as whole, spiritual, and self-realized human beings. This book is particularly helpful for those inquiring in to non-dual spirituality from a Christian background.

Selected Teachings of Douglas E. Harding

Edited by Richard Lang
Published by InnerDirections 2005.
ISBN: 1-878019-23-6
Softcover, Pages: 232, Photos: 97
Price: $32.95

Douglas Harding is a highly regarded philosopher and spiritual teacher and the author of many books, including the contemporary classic On Having No Head. His unique method of awakening to the Source, of seeing "who" we really are, is original, effective, direct, and practical. Harding's inspired approach is conversant with the spirit and conclusions of modern science and is affirmed by the immediate evidence of our senses rather than by speculative belief.

At the same time, Harding is thoroughly versed in the teachings of the world's great mystics and spiritual traditions. The method of direct perception-of seeing ourselves as we truly are-as taught by Harding for more than fifty years, is increasingly recognized by people the world over as the new face of spirituality.

Open to the Source is a comprehensive collection of the writings that best convey Douglas Harding's message and method. Presented against a series of unique photographs, this wide-ranging compilation provides the reader with clear access to the state of being that Harding equates with the Self of Vedanta and the no-self of Buddhism.

The implication of this simple and wonderful truth is that, when seen from the correct perspective, we are not what we ordinarily appear to be. Clearly, our appearance is limited. But is our reality? We have the freedom to realize our unlimited nature right now; it is up to us to look.

"What I find difficult-and unacceptable, really-is the wishy-washy reliance on words, on concepts, of so
much alleged spirituality. True spirituality is real, down to earth, concrete -- it's coming home from appearance
to reality." -- Douglas E. Harding

To Be and Not to Be, That Is the Answer To Be and Not to Be, That Is the Answer
by Douglas E. Harding
Published by Watkins.
Softcover, 192 Pages
ISBN: 0-9534255-4-1
Price: $24.95

We all want the same things -- to be happy and at peace, to be free from fear and anxiety, to be loved and to love, to live meaningful lives. But we have very different ways of going about getting them. Judging by results, few of us have found the way, and those few who have sone so have found the Source of these good things deep within themselves at their very Centre.

This book explains how to uncover and tap this Infinite Core or Centre. If it is to become real and effective in our lives we must see it clearly (in fact more clearly than anything else), trust it, and consciously life from it. This sounds terribly difficult, but the difficulties are of our own manufacture.

All we have to do is go by what we see instead of what Big Brother and language and convention tell us is going on. The result is that all the important things we had been told about ourselves are exposed as a pack of lies!

A life-changing and quite remarkable book. Practical, accessible, emminently readable, and while revealing fundamental and extraordinary truths, always imparts a sense of joy -- even fun! The author is living evidence of the success of his methods -- active, alert and full of energy at the age of 95!

Seeing Who You Really Are On Having No Head -- Zen and the Rediscovery of the Obvious
Published by The Shollond Trust
Softcover, 82 Pages
ISBN: 0-9534255-4-1
Price: $22.00

Headlessness, the feeling of no self that mystics of all times have aspired to, is an instantaneous way of 'waking up' and becoming more aware of oneself. Douglas Harding describes his first experience of headlessness in On Having No Head, a classic work first published in 1961.

In this extensively revised edition he conveys the immediacy, simplicity and practicality of 'the headless way', placing it within a zen context, and also drawing parallels to practices in other traditions.

'I know of no other piece of writing as concise … that stands a better chance of shifting the reader's perception to a different register.' Professor Huston Smith. $33.90

by Douglas E. Harding
Published by The Shollond Trust
Softcover, 375 Pages
ISBN: 0-9534255-8-4
Price: $24.95

This remarkable work is didactic fiction in the English tradition of More, Bunyan, Butler, Orwell and Huxley. Taking the form of a court case in the year 2003 AD in which a man is tried for blasphemy.

The book dramatizes Harding's highly original techniques for Seeing Who We Are, and gauges our myriad ideas about our relationship with the Divine.

It is also an indictment of the cruel sport of heresy hunting and a passionate plea for tolerance and forgiveness in our time.

InnerDirections Publishing

Head Off Stress Head Off Stress, Beyond the bottom line
by Douglas E. Harding
Published by The Shollond Trust
Softcover, 325 Pages
ISBN: 0-9534255-2-5
Price: $24.95

When we come up against stressful situations in our everyday life our automatic reaction is to turn away and escape. If, on the other hand, we can accept stress, allow it to become part of us, the conflict disappears. The secret lies in seeing that either we are the No-thing that overcomes stress by excluding it or the Every-thing that overcomes stress by including it.

This method of coping with stress applies to its many manifestations in our lives. It can turn boredom into joy and despondency into deep contentment. Learning to head off stress takes no time at all and is impossible to forget. All it requires is that we dare to take a fresh look at ourselves. Revolutionary in its ease and directness, its simplicity and penetration, this approach is guaranteed to turn our preconceptions upside down.

The Science of the 1st Person The Science of the 1st Person --
It's Principles, Practice and Potential

Published by The Shollond Trust
Softcover, 90 Pages
ISBN: 0-9534255-6-8
Price: $22.00

This Book is About the Heart of Religious Experience, namely Enlightenment (which is finding the truth concerning oneself), and about science (which is finding the truth concerning other things), and about the relationship between them.

It claims that Enlightenment is more truly scientific than science itself; and that, without Enlightenment, science is only half the story and therefore full of contradictions, of insoluble problems both theoretical and practical.

It shows how, when at last one turns one's attention round and ceases to overlook the Looker - the 1st Person at the near end of one's microscope or telescope or spectacles - these contradictions are resolved.

Some 37 examples are given, taken from such diverse fields as physics, mathematics, semantics, epistemology, and psychotherapy, to show how nothing less than Enlightenment makes sense and works out.

The Reader will find that Enlightenment is not, after all, an unattainable mystery, but perfectly natural and instantly accessible to anyone who carries out the simple test - the basic experiment of the Science of the 1st Person - which this book describes, and for which it supplies the apparatus.

The Little Book of Life and Death The Little Book of Life and Death
by Douglas E. Harding
Foreword by Ram Dass
Published by The Shollond Trust
Softcover, 150 Pages
ISBN: 0-9534255-7-6
Price: $22.95

In this book Douglas investigates the most poignant problem our life poses - what lies at the end of it. He asks us to check four things.

First, that to discover whether we are perishable, we must first discover what we are.

Second, that outsiders are in no position to tell us this; they can only tell us what we look like at a distance.

Third, that what we are is obvious as soon as we dare to look.

And fourth, that we turn out to be in all respects the opposite of what we had been told.

SATYAM NADEEN

by Satyam Nadeen (aka Michael Clegg)
New Freedom Pr. 1999
Softcover, 199 pages.
ISBN: 156170587X
Price $27.95

This is the true story of one man's spiritual awakening, without a guru and under severely restrictive, sometimes violent, physical, and intense conditions.

In March of 1992, Michael Clegg entered an overcrowded county jail near Jacksonville, Florida, convicted of the manufacture of an illegal drug called Ecstasy. He was held there for two years while awaiting sentencing. While in prison, he realized that a lifetime of spiritual searching had brought him no closer to the elusive state he was seeking, so he gave up trying. In surrender, he was overwhelmed with relief and bliss.

The next several years were spent in a deepening process he calls the deliverance, as layers of preconditioned ego personality were peeled away to reveal the eternal Pearl of Conciousness. On August 15, 1996, Satyam Nadeen was released from a federal prison to re-enter the world that Michael Clegg had left.

42 very readable chapters in all. It's worth the price of the book for the chapter on Relationships and Soulmates alone!

From Seekers To Finders From Seekers To Finders:
-- The Myth And Reality About Enlightenment

by Satyam Nadeen (aka Michael Clegg)
New Freedom Pr. 2000
Softcover, 166 pages.
ISBN: 1561705888
Price $27.95

Nadeen's first book, From Onions to Pearls, dealt primarily with his own personal experience of awakening from the human predicament. This was a third-dimensional perspective of life that is conditioned by identification with whatever the mind projects as real. Something happened to him that effortlessly "Shifted" him right into the fourth dimension where, free from identity with the mind, an abiding sense of Presence sees through the illusion of free will and being a separate doer.

In this book, he shares with us how this Shift is affecting all "seekers" who have an intense longing to finally go "home" and know the thoughts of God. But the problem with becoming a "finder" is that the reality is buried under the confusion of thousands of years of concepts around the whole idea of enlightenment. Does anyone out there really know what they're talking about?

After interviewing many thousands of awakening ones in Satsang intensives around the world, Nadeen has found that there is now emerging a clear pattern in his explanation of what actually happens when seekers become finders.

Most important of all, This Shift is happening now!
