Awakening happens when you begin to see who you really are -- when you begin to glimpse your true nature -- it's the birth of a new understanding that is freeing in every way.
For some people, attending gatherings where the teaching is shared will initiate the awakening process.
For others, the function of such gatherings will be to help them recognize that they have already begun to awaken and to intensify and accelerate the process.
If something within you responds to the teaching -- if you somehow recognize the truth in it -- it means the process of awakening has begun. Once it has done so, it cannot be reversed, although it can be delayed by the ego.
Gatherings where the truth is shared can also help people recognize the egoic 'self' within them whenever it tries to regain control and obscure the arising awareness.

Meets regularly on the first and third Saturdays of the month from 3.00pm to 5.00pm.
Silent meditation followed by 45-50 minutes of one of Eckhart's videoed talks, then another short period of silent reflection. Light refreshments are served and attenders can meet and chat. >more details
In his latest book, A New Earth, Eckhart writes:.
"As the new consciousness emerges, some people will feel called upon to form groups that reflect the enlightened consciousness. These groups will not be collective egos. The individuals who make up these groups will have no need to define their identity through them.
They no longer look to any form to define who they are. Even if the members that make up those groups are not totally free of ego yet, there will be enough awareness in them to recognize the ego in themselves or in others as soon as it appears. However, constant alertness is required since the ego will try to take over and reassert itself in any way it can.
Dissolving the human ego by bringing it into the light of awareness -- this will be one of the main purposes of these groups, whether they be enlightened businesses, charitable organizations, schools, or communities of people living together.
Enlightened collectives will fulfill an important function in the arising of the new consciousness. Just as egoic collectives pull you into unconsciousness and suffering, the enlightened collective can be a vortex for consciousness that will accelerate the planetary shift (toward consciousness)." (pages 126-7)
Meets regularly on the 2nd and 4th Friday evenings of the month from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Satsang is an opportunity to explore the truth of who you really are. More Than Information
When you come with others to listen to talks given by spiritual teachers, please be aware that the informational content, helpful as it may be, is always of secondary importance.
Beyond the information that is being conveyed, something deeper is happening. As you attend and listen, a field of alert stillness arises where before there was mental noise. You enter the state of Presence.
This becomes possible because words that are spoken from a state of Presence carry an energy frequency that can awaken that same dimension of consciousness in the listener. Herein lies the power of all true spiritual teachings.
This is also the reason why many people come to these gatherings again and again, and find that the words they hear are always fresh and new, as if they were listening to them for the first time.
